Menopause, a natural stage in women's lives, marks the cessation of menstruation and is accompanied by a series of hormonal changes that can affect quality of life.
On this journey through menopause, many women seek options to relieve the accompanying symptoms. Among these options, two of the most debated are hormone replacement therapy (HRT) cream and pellets for eliminating menopause. But what is the difference between these two options and which one might be best for you?
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Cream:
Hormone replacement therapy cream is a common treatment for alleviating menopausal symptoms. This type of therapy involves the topical application of creams containing hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, directly onto the skin. These hormones are absorbed by the body and help restore hormone levels that decrease during menopause.
One advantage of HRT cream is its ability to provide rapid relief of symptoms such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and mood swings. Additionally, the hormone dosage can be easily adjusted according to each woman's individual needs.
At Elán Med Center, we have developed a treatment based on Bioidentical Hormones (which are similar to hormones naturally produced by the body). This type of therapy does not have common side effects seen in chemical treatments.
Pellets for Eliminating Menopause:
Pellets for eliminating menopause are a lesser-known form of hormonal treatment that has been gaining popularity in recent years. This approach involves the insertion of small subcutaneous pellets under the skin, usually in the upper buttock area. These pellets gradually release hormones, such as estrogen and high dosis of testosterone, which provides relief and high dosis of energy, not being ideal for a woman's body and over a period of several months where the effects are felt more at the beginning of the treatment and with time the dose release is lower.
Once inserted, they can't be taken out for any reason, even if the patient has symptoms of excess.
However, pellets also have their disadvantages. The insertion of pellets requires a minor medical procedure, which may cause discomfort or complications in some women. Additionally, like with any form of HRT, there are concerns about potential risks associated with long-term hormone use.
What is the best option for you?
The choice between HRT cream and pellets for eliminating menopause depends on your individual needs, preferences, and risk factors.
It is important to research the pros and cons of each treatment to find the best solution for alleviating menopausal symptoms.
